As an artist, I find myself digging for lost treasure at times and wind up finding a gem at times. This mixtape project by extended family Notes is one of those rare gems that need to be heard in today's musical climate. The mixtape titled "The Classic" really sticks to it's theme by giving the listener a throwback feel to the good ol' days of hip-hop nostalgia. Tracks like "Back In The Dayz" which borrows from Ahmad's "Back In the Day" directly draws the listener into the feel of the mixtape. "32" gives the listener a deep introspect of the streets of East New York where the artist Notes grew up in (Linden Projects to be exact). Other stand out tracks like ""Stages", "Crewlife" which is a bar fest of dope lyrics and "Dear Nas" gives us the soulful hip-hop we are missing since days of Jay-Z's "The Blueprint". Anyhow give it a good listen, you will be thrilled as I was.
